THE ABC's OF PORNOGRAPHY

Please do not be offended by this post. It is something that needs to be addressed and it needs to be addressed as directly as possible. Many, no, millions are hooked by this terrible scourge on society. Many do not know the way out either. Unfortunately the lure of the lust it creates causes so many men and women to stay in it's bondage because they are not really aware of what the goals of pornography really are. I hope to, in a few short concise words give you who may be unaware of what or why you are caught up in it, to expose it in a few short terms.

The ABC's of Pornography are...
A...Abuses women. Pornography is an insult to women (and men). The images portrayed are a direct insult to the beauty God created in each male and female. Women in particular are reduced to 'bunny' 'bitch' and 'butch' rather than 'mother', 'wife' and 'friend'.
B...Brutalizes Men...Pornography images stimulate men's brute sex urges and teach them violence in seeking satisfaction. There is not thought or concern for the woman, it is all about release and self gratification.
C...Corrupts Children...Pornography violates young bodies and minds, warping future healthy sexual relationships.
D...Degrades Sex...Pornography separates love from sex. It lies about sex by showing humiliation and hurting as pleasurable. It encourages sexual behavior characteristic of perverts.

Pornography hooks customers with the lure of sexcitement and then cooks them in ever more degrading themes such as, Adultery, prostitution, sodomy, child porn, incest, sadomasochism, bestiality and orgies.

People that get hooked on porn are like the proverbial frog in a pot. Scientists discovered that frogs dropped into a pot of hot water, jumped right back out right away. But, if frogs were put into cold water and it's temperature raised, the frogs would cook to death because they could never decide at what point the water was too hot. Many today are frogs in the pornography water which is getting hotter.

When will they realize they are 'cooking' and jump out?

What can we do to alleviate the problem of pornography?

Protest:   Protest the pollution of pornography. Be loud in our resistance and speak out against it.
Pressure:  Place pressure for action on those who produce this garbage. Merchants, media, churches, societies, legislators, government officials and advertisers all need to hear your voice.
Praise and Support:  Praise and support 'clean' shopkeepers. Praise and support 'courageous' legislators and elected officials. Praise and support organizations that fight this pollution.

If you are one who is hooked on pornography, there is a way out. That way is faith in Jesus Christ. He told us to be holy because He is holy. That should be incentive enough but it can only happen if you open your heart to Him. Do it today. Invite Him in to be your Savior today and His holy Spirit will help you with the rest. CONSTRUCTIVE vs DESTRUCTIVE

This is just an added comment to my regular posts. Have you ever met someone that has something to say but they have to hide who they are  to say it because it is critical or they want to try to get under your skin with their hidden snide remarks but really don’t want you to know it’s them so they do it under a cloak of secrecy.

Maybe they are just insecure or maybe the thing you said or wrote about really got to them and the only way they can compensate for the conviction they feel is to come up with a remark to try and get under your skin and deflect that conviction back at you.

Well I want you to know I think that is great! I think it is great because what it means is you are making an impact in their lives. The only reason they do it the way they do is because of the conviction they feel. 

I have constructed this blogsite for the express purpose of encouraging and instructing people the best way I know how. In some cases, I am sure I will step on toes. That is part of learning and I don’t do it to be nasty or get a rise out of people, I do it in hopes that it will help them.

The results I am getting from this site are encouraging. Just look at the view counter on the home page. People are looking for direction. Some are convicted. I have the comments to prove it. I don’t post many of them simply because they are way too negative and take away from the message. They don’t serve a viable purpose so they do not get published.

I love it when you post a comment, but it will be moderated before I allow it on the site, so please be careful in how you phrase your statements. Be constructive, not destructive and I will put it on the site. Thanks.

LOOK OUT FOR YOURSELF

If ever there was a figure in history that demonstrated an attitude of Christlike unselfishness it is Abraham. When Abraham and Lot were going in different directions, Abraham was the one who stepped up to the plate and yielded his position to Lot. He stepped back and gave Lot all the respect in the world as he said, you choose. In Genesis 12:9; Abraham said to Lot…“If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left.”

Unfortunately today most people ignore Paul’s admonition to us to…“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” (Philippians. 2:4;). If you are not sure this is true, just think about (with honesty of course), your own thoughts, and your actions and goals for life. The wider society around us reflects our attitudes and operates on the principle of selfishness. The person who lets others go first is not regarded as virtuous, but is considered weak.

Every day, we are each presented with many opportunities to obey Paul’s admonition through acts of kindness, by treating others the way we want to be treated, and by putting them first, and ourselves last. That doesn’t mean we neglect our own needs, but that we make the effort to meet the needs of others as well. We “each esteem others better than ourselves.” (Philippians 2:3;).

This kind of attitude will not turn us into losers, but into winners of a great spiritual reward.

IS SOMEONE ELSE YOUR SCAPEGOAT?

When we have problems or faults and try to pin them on others and make them our scapegoat, it is unjust, it is cruel and it is certainly very displeasing to God. When things tend to go astray in our lives, the first thing many do is to look for someone else to pin the blame on. This is nothing new though. It even dates back to Bible days. When the children of Israel were walking in the wilderness just after they were delivered from the bondage of the Egyptians they engaged in this very act of pass the buck. When they ran out of water, and when they realized the food was nearly gone, panic took over and who got the blame? Moses and Aaron! They said you guys got us into this mess! Look at Exodus 16:2  "The whole Israelite community complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness." They made scapegoats of their leaders, the very leaders who had risked everything to bring them out of bondage and slavery. While God mercifully overlooked their lack of faith and unfair criticism of His servants in these two incidents, when the Israelites later committed the same sin, He judged them severely (Numbers 16).

Are we not aware that when we blame others for our problems we are hurting innocent people by pointing accusing fingers at them. Don’t we realize we are really pointing fingers at ourselves as well. We never acknowledge our personal failures by blaming others and that in turn robs us of the opportunity to repent and learn from our mistakes as well as seek help for what we are going through. What happens in this scenario of blaming others for our mistakes is, we do nothing less than condemn ourselves to repeating our mistakes.

Being able to see things clearly helps us to understand that no one stands out more in the sight of God and their fellowman than the person who acknowledges their own faults and mistakes, is able to ask for forgiveness and is able to ask for help so they won’t repeat their errors again. Anyone striving for spiritual perfection never arrived there by pointing a finger at someone else. Repentance is a personal responsibility and acceptance for it even in the event of small errors in judgment will make all of heaven and the hosts of heaven rejoice with us on our behalf.

I would suggest, If you are going to point a finger, make sure it is at yourself.

WHAT DID YOU DO TODAY?

If you have ever read the Parable of the good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) you realize it is one of the best moments found in the Bible. In it is the story of a man who was walking along a road minding his own business and he is attacked and nearly murdered by thieves and they leave him for dead. Then along comes some of his fellow countrymen and they just ignore him. But one man, a Samaritan who is considered by everyone else to be no better than an outcast and an enemy and he is the one to help out the beaten man. Go figure!

The whole idea of this parable is to teach all of us that it is our obligation to help anyone in need and not just to help relatives and friends. I think many miss the last few words of the parable that seem to sum up the lesson quite nicely. At the end of Christ’s illustration He says, “You go, then, and do the same.”

It seems to me that in those very few words, Christ seems to add a completely new dimension and a profound lesson for us to learn. Christ is reminding us that those of us who exercise our belief are the ones who please God.  I would guess that each one of us when we rise each day it is with the intention of doing good and being the best we can be but usually by day’s end we have been distracted so much that we cannot really see all the hurt, pain and strife around us.  Our jobs, our families, our personal activities, which in themselves are all good and right, seem to distract us from being that ‘Good Samaritan’.

In this passage of Scripture at hand, each person that walked by probably had their own personal reason for doing so. One may have had an appointment he needed to get to and the other may have been concerned that if he stopped to help, he might become a victim of those same robbers who may be still lurking about. Isn’t that usually the way? We all, like these men, seem to find excuses to look the other way and ignore the plight of the needy.

It is here that we need to see that there comes a time in our lives that even the best intentions are not nearly enough. When we reach that point we need to show our faith in a tangible way rather than just think, “Oh, I don’t have time” or “I can’t right now”. We need to be examples and our actions show us as examples.  Right here is where we need to hear the words of Jesus Christ and also the admonition of the apostle James. James said, “Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to God’s , Word; instead take care that you put it into practice.” (James 1:22;)

Jesus said, “You go, then, and do the same.”
